New Toys > new phone

got a new phone a while back. Palm pre. it rocks. that is all.

Truck Stereo > Rev 4

Well now. Quite the upgrade. New head unit is an alpine IVA-W505, withe the nve-300 nav and kce-300bt blue-tooth module. 7 inch touchscreen. I have 2 DD Audio 3512's. Heaven in a sub. Got my custom box from pete, $950 shipped. the subs were $1350 shipped. The mtx amp died, so I got a Hifonics Brutus 2406bxi for the subs (2400 RMS @1 ohm), and a zeus for the front (220x4 RMS@ 4 ohms). I have alpine S5x7's in the front, stock ford in the rear (rear alpines died), alpine tweets in the front. Also got the alpine imprint system, works great, when all ur speakers are fine. 1/0 gauge cable runs the power on a 200 amp alternator. Oh, and this is all in my new (to me) 2002 Ford Explorer.

Truck > Fuel Leak Fixed

Well, I finally fixed the fuel leak. rusted sender unit. $165. thirty f'in dollars for the damn ring that holds it in place. Luckily John had a free fuel line for me, so the total for the project was $245 with tax, including a new fuel filter. so far to date I've spent roughly $1716 on my truck mechanically.

DIY Projector > Cheaper and cheaper.

Well, the AX100U was 1100 a couple days ago, now its $1052. Few move weeks and itll be under a grand (assuming no customs)

New Toys > Laptop

I just got a dell D600 Laptop. Well, 2 of em. $250 a piece with a gig of ram and dvd burner. However one wont be getting that much ram. only 384 as i want quick hibernation. (Carputer). Anywho, the laptops are pM 1.4's, 20 gb hd, gigabit lan, wireless G, 14.1 inch screen. Theyre smallish, perfect full keyboard, and run fast. Theyre almost as fast as my sisters new laptop. Im happy. well, Ill post more later.

Truck Stereo > Rev 3

My cousin Lance had 2 beat up mtx thunder 8000 15's and a mtx 81000D amp. He needed money, I needed subs. $425 later, I had subs. First I hooked up the mtx amp to my alpine. Much cleaner out put, but its only rated 300x1 on 8 ohms. So it had less output. I had no box for the 15's so I left it at that. Dana lent me his box for his 15 inch clarions that he was selling. So I ran the subs in series for 8 ohms again at 300 watts. they sounded even quieter than the alpine. So far I have $425 in, and im now at the quietest my system had been in since I put my alpine in. Well, I was with Travis at macs on johnston, and at about 3 am, I decided to hook the subs up properly. I wired them in parallel for a 2 ohm load. Remember I said this amp was doing 300 watts on 8 ohms? well it does 1200 watts on 2 ohms. I woke up people across the street. my lights were dimming. my roof was flexing probably half an inch. I was fucking amazed. Never had i heard such loud bass in a truck. I was the king of stereos for that night. Since then, Ive done a few mods. I now have a new energizer battery (1000 CA), connected to a 200A (@1500rpm) alternator with 1/0 gauge cable running to 2 distro blocks with a 150 amp anl fuse. the distro block goes to my 4 channel Jensen which powers my 4 5x7 door speakers, and the mtx which powers my subs. I've just purchased a laptop and will soon be getting a touch screen to run as my carputer. I have 2 tweeters to put in after i get some more wire and some custom made crossovers. I am also getting a box designed specifically for my subs and truck by a guy named Pete in GA USA. he knows his shit to say the least. I also have 2 12 inch midbass drivers i have to put in. I'll need an amp for those as well. To date, Ive invested roughly $1566. All I have left to buy is an external harddrive, bluetooth adapter for my cell and laptop, a gps receiver, a sub enclosure, a 2F cap, touchscreen adapter, mid bass amp, mid bass enclosures, and i should be good to go. so probably another $1000. So to say the last, Im happy with my stereo, and now its time for quality. Anywho, thats about all for now.

Truck Stereo > Version 2

I managed to save my subs and deck and amp, though all a lil beat up, with 5 min of tlc i bent em back into shape, and installed em in my new 1991 black/tan eddie bauer ford explorer. I ended up blowing my 10's, so I decided to rip apart my tline and use the 12 inch alpine. I bought a custom box from cory from barlows for $80. All i can say is holy crap that pounded. Well, Ive since upgraded. Next Post for version 3

Truck Stereo > A lil history

My truck stereo started with a 91 blue ford explorer. I had a nice pioneer p480mp deck, 2 crappy 10 inch subs (if you could call them that), a jensen 4 channel amp bridged down to the 2 subs, and deck power for the 4 5x7 door speakers. I had the subs in a bandpass tube enclosure. They went low, but had very little output. Then I rolled that truck. Next post for Version 2.
